“Like the White Stripes if they’d been raised on the records of ‘80s indie heroes The Wedding Present rather than Blind Willie McTell ones, New York boy/girl duo Schwervon! peddle a natty guitar drum rock’n’roll racket, substituting bass frequencies for gleeful indie pop aceness.” (NME)

Schwervon!'s last album, Quick Frozen Small Yellow Cracker, established them as the New York City's garage-rock couple chipping away at the daily trials of inflated rent prices, getting older, and cooking with the one you love. Released domestically on their own NYC label Olive Juice Music and in the UK and Europe on Teenage Fanclub drummer Francis MacDonald's label Shoeshine Records, GFSYC has taken Schwervon! on two UK and European tours and has garnered 8/10 stars in a recent NME review, as well as high praises in a Village Voice article about the NYC Antifolk scene.

Schwervon! is a real couple making real music, together! In "Poseur" they delve deeper into the typically anti-domestic world of rock and roll. Their indie-rock couple's therapy deconstructs the over stylized NYC rock scene with Songs like "Bad Music", "Poseur", and "Electric Landlady". This new album rocks harder while revealing a more diverse and at times psychadelic side (see "Foxhole Religion", "Red Tongue", and "Hard Kind"). This new album sees Schwervon! kicking up the production a notch, as they continue to hone their Sonny and Cher meets the Pixies testament to real love. A band that answers that age old question: "What do you get when you lock the son of a high school biology teacher with the daughter of a former Presbyterian minister in a room with a guitar and drumset for 6 months?"

“Right now, Schwervon are my prime example of what makes antifolk worth investigating beyond the Moldy Peaches – sweet, sexy song” (The Village Voice)

“Damn, anti-folk looks good in a two piece. Of course, the electrically charged music that singer-drummer Nan Turner and singer-guitarist Matt Mason make is more like indie rock. It can be loud and cute and mouth-along-able. Most of all, the Schwervon! kids sing about the real, the here and the now--laundry, depression, rent and repression- which is probably how they got mixed up with that sincere NYC anti-folk scene. So much damn fun.” (Philadelphia City Paper)

“Poseur is essential - truly affecting music not simply made for effect. Matt & Nan are the King & Queen of the alt.rock underground & I want them to adopt me & keep me warm and safe forever. It’s a fucked up, lonely world we live in - & love is the only thing that keeps it turning! Schwervon! turned out nice again - there’s hope for all of us.” (Jean Encoule)

“Schwervon! offer an alternative to the NYC style pack of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Strokes, and Liars.....and peddle their low-fi indie pop with a rather cheeky smile...Schwervon! have a definite propensity for rocking out.” (XFM)
